Knights of Pythias Retirement Center, in accordance with Governor Jay Inslee’s Safe Start Washington Phased Approach to Recovery, Clark County and City of Vancouver Guidelines, along with input from HUD, announces the following COVID-19 reopening policy.
Our reopening will evolve in four phases which coincide with Governor Inslee’s Safe Start Washington Phased Approach to Recovery. During each of the four phases, the following guidelines apply:
- We will engage in social distancing, staying at least six feet away from others.
- We recommend that you wear a mask in the common areas when not eating or drinking. If you are not wearing a mask you still must maintain social distancing. Social distancing includes our recommendation of one person at a time in the elevator. If you do not own a mask, let us know and we will issue one to you.
- If you are sick you must stay at home.
- We will wash hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
- We will cover coughs and sneezes.
- We will avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- We will disinfect surfaces and objects regularly.
The state will be in each phase for a minimum of three weeks. The phases will be adjusted as the pandemic evolves. We may advance to a new phase or return to a previous phase in accordance with the state of Washington. We will announce when a new phase is beginning, or if we are returning to a previous phase. Communication will be by memorandum from management to ensure that everyone receives the information. The memorandum will be posted on doors and emailed when necessary.
Our Phased Approach will be the following:
Phase One: Our current phase. Continue to stay in your apartment except for essential travel to the grocery stores or doctor offices. Continue to exercise on your own and maintain social distancing. All activities are cancelled. All common areas remain closed. The only visitors allowed are essential visitors providing care to a resident.
Phase Two: Activities are cancelled. Common areas (except the fitness room) will reopen but gatherings are limited to five or fewer people. The hair salon will reopen. Contact our stylist Sandra Wilson for more information at 360-624-2138. The dining room will reopen at 50 percent capacity. Table size will be no more than 5 residents. Sack lunches will still be available at no extra cost. The hair salon will reopen. Move-ins will resume with screening. Visitors are allowed with restrictions. Four maximum at any time per apartment with one occupant, three maximum at any apartment with two occupants. They will be expected to have masks on unless they have a disability that prevents them from doing so. If they cannot wear a mask, they need to let the front office know. Non-essential deliveries such as furniture may resume.
Phase Three: The Fitness room will reopen at 50 percent capacity. Small group activities such as senior fitness, church services and knitting will resume with social distancing. Activities involving no more than 50 people will be planned by the resident board. The dining room will expand to 75 percent capacity. Sack lunches will still be available for $1 extra charge. The restriction on number of visitors will be lifted.
Phase Four: All activities will resume with masks, social distancing and good hygiene remaining in place.
We will reevaluate the use of masks in our community after Phase Four.
Our goal at Knights of Pythias Retirement Center is to keep our community a safe place. By working together, we can achieve our goal of remaining free of COVID-19. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support!
